Good for cleaning, BAD for EVERYTHING ELSE – I will admit that, up until I had my wisdom teeth pulled by Dr. Xu, I'd had a good experience at his office. His hygienists were friendly enough, even if I did end up spending more money every time I went in there.
My extraction experience was a nightmare. I was not informed in advance of the procedure that I wasn't going to be given anything except a local during my procedure, even though I asked TONS of questions. I sat there while he spent about 10 minutes trying to get one of my two impacted teeth out. There was no pain, but lots of pressure and lots of cracking. Subsequently, I got dry socket at this site. I went in suspecting I had it and he told me "not to worry about it" and gave me no follow up procedures, just told me to wash more thoroughly. When the pain became unbearable and I went back in two days later, his receptionist and hygienist threatened to call the police on me twice during my visit because I demanded something stronger than vicodin (I weigh about 250 and have no history of prescription drug abuse). He told me to put the syringe down into the socket when cleaning it, even though he had just packed it. They had to write three different prescriptions in order to get the script right. The first time they wrote me a script for Acetaminophen 325. The second time they included no dosing instructions. Thankfully, I called my pharmacy to confirm that the script was legit (it wasn't) and finally got a final script that was written correctly. He had nothing to do with writing the script. He disappeared right after he confirmed that they had written the first script wrong. I walked out of there with no care instructions for dry socket. I also found the next day that I had two dry sockets in both teeth on my left side (16 and 17). He didn't even catch the second one and it took him two appointments to catch the first one.
In short, if you just need a cleaning, you'll be fine here, but don't let them do anything too advanced.
illin dental dont waste your money, poor work – office was very unorganized 3 years ago. recieved 2 crowns from dr xu. 4 month after first crown tooth fractured and had to be extracted. now other crown he did 3 years later has cracked, the crown its self 2010, called them and they said there is only one year guarantee on the crown. the money it cost and 1 year, when they tell u they will last a life time if you take care of your teeth. now i am questiong dr xu work. spend your money wisely, go see a great dentist, dr eric martin and get a skilled dentist who does great work and he backs up his work. if this crown was from him it would be repaired at no cost. dr xu said 1 year waranty sorry. what the heck i guess he already got the money.
Wonderful – I disagree witht he previous post. I visited them recently and i found everyone to be quite knowledgable. As far as the oral cancer screening...I am an RN for an Oral Surgeon, and I know that 25-30% of oral cancer patients show no signs or have any risk factors, so I think it's great that they have this service. I would rather pay 50$ and have my life saved then have it come along down the road. As far as the rescheduling, working for a doctor, i understand that emergencies may come up. Everyone should realize this as well. I will be returning to them
